Charlotte, North Carolina – Robert “Bobby” W. Golibart, Jr., 67, of Charlotte, NC, died at home around June 11, 2022, of a heart attack. He was born in Washington, D.C., on June 11, 1955, to Robert W. Golibart, Sr., and his wife, Margretta Kjellberg Golibart, both deceased. He is mourned by his elder sister, Elizabeth Golibart Honaker (the late Robert Allen); her son, James Allen Honaker and his daughter, Josephine Esme Tavano-Honaker; along with her daughter, Christine Honaker Escobar (Michael) and her three sons, Austin, Garrett, and Dylan. He is also mourned by middle sibling, Margaret Golibart Buckler (John). In addition, Bobby is fondly remembered by Lindy Benton-Muller and Mary Reynolds.
Educated at Saint Gabriel’s Parish School in Washington, D.C., and at Saint Michael’s Parish School in Silver Spring, MD, Bobby graduated from Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C., and then completed his college degree at Mount St. Mary’s in Emmitsburg, MD. He started an acting career in 1976, but quickly realized his first love was stage lighting and technical direction. He became Theater Tech at the Irving Arts Center in Irving, TX (1994 â€” 2001), then became the Technical Director at the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, TX (1989 â€” 2006). Following a move to North Carolina, Bobby taught stage technology and was Technical Director at Central Piedmont Community College from 2005 until his retirement in 2021.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Pkwy, Charlotte, NC 28277. Visitation will precede the service at 10 a.m. Bobby’s family invites everyone to a reception following the service at South Charlotte Banquet Center, 9009 Bryant Farms Rd, Charlotte, NC 28277, from noon to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served, and Memory Cards will be available to record people’s favorite memories of Bobby.
