Pair accused of stealing woman’s vehicle at gunpoint, leading police on chase – WSOC TV

HICKORY, N.C. — Two men, accused of stealing a woman’s vehicle at gunpoint and leading police on a chase in Hickory Tuesday night, have been charged, authorities said.

At around 11:30 p.m., the Hickory Police Department received a call about a robbery in the parking lot of an apartment complex near 20th Ave Drive NE. The caller said two men were assaulting a woman and appeared to be trying to steal her vehicle.

While the caller was on the phone with 911, one of the men fired several shots at the caller who was still inside their home, police said.

Shortly after, the victim of the reported assault called 911 and said two men had just held a gun to her head and stole her vehicle, according to authorities.

As officers were responding to the scene, they saw the vehicle at the intersection of 16th Street NE and 12th Avenue NE with two men inside. Police tried to pull the vehicle over but the driver refused to stop, leading officers on a chase.

Police followed the vehicle all the way to the parking lot of Food Lion on Springs Road NE, where the driver crashed into a utility pole. The two men then jumped out of the vehicle and ran away.

Officers went after both men and eventually found them and took them into custody. The two suspects were identified as Deonte Clark, 29, and Keon Abraham, 22.

Clark was charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling, robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, second-degree kidnapping, larceny of motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, discharging a firearm in the city limits and resisting a public officer.

Abraham was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, larceny of motor vehicle, felony fleeing to elude arrest with motor vehicle, felony aiding and abetting attempted first-degree murder, felony aiding and abetting second-degree kidnapping and resisting a public officer.

Both men are being held at the Catawba County Detention Center under no bond.
