Annual Ballantyne holiday gift supports local workforce and sustainable practices.
Northwood Office made a significant contribution to the City of Charlotte’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Workforce (RENEW) Training Program on behalf of its tenants and customers. The gift provides 50 participants with the tools and course materials needed to succeed in the 13-week paid training program for careers in HVAC and electrical industries.
About RENEW
The City of Charlotte, in partnership with the Urban League of Central Carolinas and Goodwill Industries of Southern Piedmont, launched the RENEW Training Program in September 2020 to align with its Strategic Energy Action Plan (SEAP). The four focus areas within the SEAP include Buildings, Transportation, Energy Generation and Workforce Development & Equity. RENEW seeks to fulfill the plan’s Workforce Development & Equity pillar and prepare residents for careers that utilize sustainable technologies. To date, 71 participants have graduated from the program, and 15 are expected to graduate from an all-female cohort in December 2021. At an average pay of $17-20 per hour, 79% of graduates are employed full-time, and 90% receive EPA Universal Certification.
Since 2013, Ballantyne has chosen a local organization to support in appreciation of our tenant community instead of a traditional holiday gift. View the news release.
