Information on Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Updates to federal funding for COVID-19: Since the beginning of the pandemic, the federal government has spent billions of dollars to ensure access to COVID-19 vaccines, testing, and treatment for all Americans. Due to recent changes in federally funded programs, some health care providers may change hours, locations, and availability of free or low-cost COVID-19 services. Mecklenburg County Public Health (MCPH) will continue to offer COVID-19 vaccination at no cost to all community members and update this Website with no-cost, easily accessible testing locations for community members who are uninsured. MCPH is following this news and will keep this Website updated as more information becomes available.

More at-home test kits now available from federal government: Every home in the United States is eligible to order 2 sets of 4 free at-home tests to be delivered by mail. If you already ordered your first set, order another set online or call 1-800-232-0233 to place an order.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that individuals and communities follow and understand COVID-19 Community Levels to help them determine the COVID-19 safety precautions they should follow.

An area’s COVID-19 Community Level is a combination of the following three measures:

  1. New COVID-19 hospital admissions in the past week
  2. The percent of staffed inpatient hospital beds occupied by patients with COVID-19
  3. Total new COVID-19 cases in the past week

The three COVID-19 Community Levels are LOW, MEDIUM, and HIGH. You can check the COVID-19 Community Level by county on CDC’s Website.

As of March 4, 2022, Mecklenburg County’s COVID-19 Community Level is LOW.
