Ballantyne Woman Beaten And Carjacked In Broad Daylight

CHARLOTTE, NC.– What started as a pleasant Easter Sunday turned into a nightmare for one Ballantyne woman.

“It was the scariest moment. But I’m glad it happened to me and not to any of my children,” she says.

The Ballantyne resident was getting Easter candy and toys from her family at the CVS at the Promenade around noon on Sunday. When she says, a man walked up to her and asked for her shopping cart.

“And suddenly, he started grabbing my car keys from my wrist. They were on my wrist. He started to take them off, and I grabbed them with the other hand and was so surprised, and I said no, stop, and started screaming help, help, help.”

She says he got ahold of her car keys, but then it got violent.

The suspect fled with her silver Toyota 4 runner, her purse, phone, and wallet. She ran back into CVS, screaming for help. The police came, and she was taken to the hospital. She has facial fractures, a concussion, and staples that had to be put in her head from the incident.

According to CMPDs crime mapping, there have been four assaults and fives larceny incidents within the past month near that CVS. The Ballantyne woman says she’s still in shock.

Her family started a GoFundMe after the brutal attack.
